Viewforth High School believes that effective school leadership is essential to improving teaching and learning. Top level leadership is also needed to connect an individual school with the community it serves.

During the academic year 2015 – 16 we funded the Viewforth Leadership Academy for staff. This was due to the experiences of our staff when attending interviews for middle management level posts who reported that moving from Viewforth is seen as both a move to a much bigger school and also a move to manage a much larger number of people. This “double jump” is an impediment to career progression within the Education and Children’s Service.

The Viewforth Leadership Academy aimed to provide a tailor-made programme having classroom, project and team leadership at its heart and was flexible enough to respond to individual needs and circumstances. By assisting in the career development of our staff we hope to improve the effectiveness of Viewforth and its connectivity with the local community
