Welcome to the school Newsletter marking the end of 2016. What a year it has been for us!
Our new facilities opened officially on 28th October, are indeed wonderful but even they pale into insignificance beside the efforts of my teaching colleagues and others in making this move happen.
Last year we refreshed our school vision and we now express the essence of our work in the phrase “Aspiring Together; Achieving Together”. Never was the spirit of togetherness more obvious than during the packing and unpacking process. My admiration and thanks go to all teaching staff for the way they tackled this mammoth task in addition to everything else that was ongoing. Additionally, while my normal habit is not to single out individuals in this newsletter I feel that I must not let the central role of Sandra Duncan pass without mention. Not only did she coordinate all of the flitting process but she remains central to the smooth operation of the new campus.
The articles that follow show that the New Viewforth High School has brought many additional opportunities but we have also used the move as an opportunity to look back over our 108 years in Loughborough Road. As is all too common, sweet memories are also tinged with sadness and the death of Kay Carrington was a blow to us all but our sweet memories of this great supporter of Viewforth will continue.
To everyone who made 2016 such a momentous year we say a very big thank-you and a seasonal Happy Christmas.
